National ambassadors meeting!

Early tomorrow morning Im taking the train down to Stockholm to attend a national ambassadors meeting (Im an ambassador for female business owners this year, http://www.ambassadorer.se/search). I have a feeling Im gonna be sooooooo exhausted when I come back home in the afternoon, but its gonna be totally worth it! I just hope my contractions willl be on hold for the day, otherwise it'll be real hard to focus...

You gain some you loose some...

Just got back from a visit at the doctors office. I was prepared to have gained about 2lbs (1kg) since last time. But apparently Ive lost weight, about 3lbs (1,5kg). Total weight gain 15 kg so far. Not too shabby I must say. Maybe Ill have the courage to squeese meeself in to a bikini this summer after all, hah! I have to celebrate with a homemade cinnamonbun I think =). My iron had also gone up to almost the same as it was in the beginning of the pregnancy. I also made sure to tell my obstetrician that Im planning to go no more than 14 days from now, after that the troll's coming out! She just laughed and told me that the baby will probably decide herself when to come out. You just wait and see who's the most stubborn one....

On top of it all we just went to pick up a bathtub, woohooo! A looooooong warm milk n honey (just add 1 dl organic dairy milk, coconut milk or oat milk and 0,5 dl honey, works wonders for your skin) bath is on the schedule for tonight, my back cant wait! Maybe even a honey facial (just put pure honey, NOT liquid honey, in your face) and Ill feel like a princess!

Now back to pack my bag for the hospital =)

Updated baby wishlist!

Some things have been added, some things have already been bought!

http://www.familjeliv.se/hem/mrs_garneij/onskelista.php?wishlist=1084

A whole new world!

This baby-gear-world is really something I tell ya. Its a whole new world to me. I walk in to the baby stores and I feel completely lost. Wtf am I supposed to buy? Im like a bloated seal in a sticker factory! At least I left with a couple of bottles and a bottle rack, otherwise that trip would have been completely useless....

I just ordered a breast pump so that beau will be able to feed the troll. Im planning on breast feeding as much as possible but we really want him to be able to feed her as well. That also means I will get at least some free time, and maybe be able to rest once in a while as well. The car seat has been ordered and so has the matress. Now all that's missing are the cloth diapers.
Geez our house is filling up with baby gear, now all we needses is a baby. 2 more weeks, MAYBE 3, thats all I give her. After that Im planning on eating a lotchi of spicy food and do some heavy gardening!

Low and behold, I stayed out until after 10pm last night, can u believe it? I had a blast celebrating my friend who just got married. She was gooooorgeous. We were 5 pregnant women sitting at the same table, laughing at all the drunk people. And on top of it all, all knocked up girls had free (soda) bar, woohooo! The only problem being that we all have to pee every five minutes even if we dont drink, so all our glasses were empty pretty much the whole night. But still, we had a blast laughing at as I stated all the drunk people and our own pregnancy problems. At least I could wake up today not being hungover, just a bit bothered by my stuffed up nose. Im not really jelaous of the hungovers....

Now off for a quick (?) walk, a baptism and then some chores out at loves grandparents. Apparently some painting and eating is on the schedule for today. I have a feeling I'll skip the painting and go straight for the eating and relaxing in the sun part =)

New belly pic, week 37!

Week: 36 full weeks, going on week 37 (36+0)
Weight gained so far: 36,3 lbs (16,5 kg)
Days 'til due date: 28

Well I aint getting any slimmer by the week, that's for sure...
Now my ever growing tummy n I are going out and about for the night, a night on the town, can you believe it! And with "for the night" I mean between 7-8pm, after that I gots to go back to the couch n rest....

36 full weeks, going on week 37!

How your baby's growing:

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

How your life's changing:

Now that your baby is taking up so much room, you may have trouble eating a normal-size meal. Smaller, more frequent meals are often easier to handle at this point. On the other hand, you may have less heartburn and have an easier time breathing when your baby starts to "drop" down into your pelvis. This process — called lightening — often happens a few weeks before labor if this is your first baby. (If you've given birth before, it probably won't happen before labor starts.) If your baby drops, you may also feel increased pressure in your lower abdomen, which may make walking increasingly uncomfortable, and you'll probably find that you have to pee even more frequently. If your baby is very low, you may feel lots of vaginal pressure and discomfort as well. Some women say it feels as though they're carrying a bowling ball between their legs!

You might also notice that your Braxton Hicks contractions are more frequent now. Be sure to review the signs of labor with your practitioner and find out when she wants to hear from you. As a general rule, if you're full-term, your pregnancy is uncomplicated, and your water hasn't broken, she'll probably have you wait to come in until you've been having contractions that last for about a minute each, coming every five minutes for an hour. Of course, you'll want to call right away if you notice a decrease in your baby's activity or think you're leaking amniotic fluid, or if you have any vaginal bleeding, fever, a severe or persistent headache, constant abdominal pain, or vision changes.

Even if you're enjoying an uncomplicated pregnancy, it's best to avoid flying (or any travel far from home) during your final month because you can go into labor at any time. In fact, some airlines won't let women on board who are due to deliver within 30 days of the flight.

Fostrets utveckling - gravid vecka 36

Princess treatments and baby shower, oh yes!

2h, that's how long time I spent today getting pampered from head to toe at SPA Valdhav. Full body scrub, aroma therapy body treatment, facial and a 50min full body massage. Aaaaaahhh, see this is the absolutely right time to treat yourself to these kind of things. I almost dont feel pregnant anymore... Or actually, I take that back. Cause for the past hour I've been having problems standing up, the troll is pressing downwards trying to get out and it hurts soooooo bad, I best lay down for the rest of the night....

Tomorrow we're off to buy a car seat for the troll, and Im just about to order a mattress online. A non-allergenic organic one is what troll's gonna sleep on =)

I just found out that another two grils from my old class is preggers. That leaves like 2 that wont be having babies this year (or is there something you guys havent told us??), crazy stuff. Did they feed us something when we were kids that makes us all very fertile when we reach our late 20s? I bet they did, the frikkin "milk gives you strong bones"-slogan was just for show....

See I think we girls should all throw the biggest baby shower ever for eachother. We could do like a secret santa thing out of it. Baby shower is something that hasnt really caught on here in sweden, yet.... I mean its the best thing ever to get treated to a party with your friends when you're hughe and almost cant get out of the couch on your own. You hang out, eat a bunchload of food, cake and cookies, drinks and on top of that you get presents for the baby. Its like a hughe celebration of you wonderful woman you, who is creating another human being inside your own body. If that isn't cause for a big party I dont know what is... I rock at cookies and cakes so I'll sign up to make those (and eat them...)!

30 days to go, only one bet so far!

So now it's 30 days left until we get to meet our troll. But Im personally counting on about 14 days, MAYBE 3 weeks, but after that Im done. No really, I mean it. See I like being preggers, a lot, it's not that. I like having my biiiiig ass tummy, feeling the trolls movements and seeing her feet looking like they're about to poke their way through my skin. I dont mind having gained about 30% of my body weight either, it doesent bother me at all, its actually quite fun cause I see it as a real challenge getting back in to shape post labour. And yes, it is pretty sweet being able to lay down all day if I want to without having to feel bad about it.
What I dont like is not having the option of doing anything else. After loading one wash Im totally exhausted, walking up the stairs is like running a frikking marathon, going for what used to be a 10 min. walk now takes me around 30 mintues if not more. If I walk too fast I start having contractions and run out of breath. And with "too fast" I mean walking slightly faster than a newly awakened hungover snail, my perception of fast has changed drastically.... Doing house chores also gives me contractions and makes my back start hurting. I had a plan of cleaning the house before loves back. Didnt go that great...

If only my head was as pregnant and exhausted as my body. Ok I cant really seem to keep any information these days. But my mind isnt as tired as my body which makes it even harder to sit still. Pregnant-friendly sedatives for the brain seems like a great option right now....

The bet is still on though, about when the baby is to be born (date and time). Hit me with an e-mail or post your reply here on my blog. The winner gets to come over for an amazing afternoon tea and watch the troll while I take a shower and/or visit the ladies room (cause apparently you don have the time to do that when you have a baby). Only one bet so far...

See thats another thing thats on my mind right now. Why wouldnt you have the time to go to the bathroom or take a shower just because you have a baby?. When I was a nanny taking care of TWO babies I just never felt I didnt have the time to go to the bathroom. Babies can be left alone for a minute, or why not just bring your baby with you to the bathroom? I sure dont think it makes you a bad mom just because you leave your baby for a couple of minutes to go empty your blatter. Or maybe I'll get presented with one of these in a couple of years:

ALmost 10am, should I get up? Nooo, I best stay in bed for a bit longer and watch a bunch of 24-episodes!

Gettin' bribed, my kind of cup of tea!

Mother in law's treating me to lunch today, homemade fish burgers, yum! See I need those kind of bribes these days to get mee bumsy out the door. Ok I do go for walks almost every day, but Im getting more and mroe tired of having to walk soooooooo slow.....
Still having contractions and stretch pains, but at least love's back in Sweden, whoohooo!

Caught up...

... and being choked by boobies, kitty n tummy. Nice.... At least someone's enjoying me being unable to move around!

The final countdown!

32 days to go, feels like an eternity. But we're counting on the troll to arrive in about 3 weeks or so. I just read that when the babies thinks the womb is too small, they send out some kind of hormonethat starts the delivery. It's felt like she's been thinking that for quite a while if you ask me...
On top of it all Ive been starting to have contractions. They dont hurt, yet. I just feel my tummy getting reeeeal hard. I did have some earlier on in the pregnancy but havent felt them for a while now. Of course they started over again, right when beau left for Barcelona on saturday. Luckily he's on his way home right now and will be back tonight. I didnt tell him about the contractions until today, when I knew he was on his way home. I figured that if I told him when he ws on his way down there he would probably get too nervous and end up having an accident or something.

I really have been forced to slow down my tempo the last week. My body just screams "NO" when I try to move around too much, I start having contractions and the needle sensation comes back. I do try to take a walk every day though, I go crazy if I have to sit still for too long. But right now its 11:50am. I've been awake sine 7am and had just had breakfast. So I cant be accused of doing too much that's for sure...

No now I have to get ready for my daily walk, probably takes me around 30 minutes or so to get myself ready these days...

Hi troll, wanna come out?

What a party pooper...

Tried a new Ben n Jerrys ice cream yeasterday, yuk I tell ya! Peanut butter n cookie dough ice cream was my favourite living in the States (and also chocolate chip n cookie dough, yum). But for some reason Ben n Jerry didnt manage to put the same great combo on a stick. The peanut butter was waaaaaaay too salty and the cookie dough didnt almost taste anything.
On top of it all they had put the frikkin ice cream in a plastic wrap of some sort INSIDE a paper box. What a waste, so non-environmentally friendly. Nope, that ice cream was a real downer if you ask me and I certainly wont be buying it this summer!

35 full weeks, going on week 36!

How your baby's growing:

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

How your life's changing:

Your uterus — which was entirely tucked away inside your pelvis when you conceived — now reaches up under your rib cage. If you could peek inside your womb, you'd see that there's more baby than amniotic fluid in there now. Your ballooning uterus is crowding your other internal organs, too, which is why you probably have to urinate more often and may be dealing with heartburn and other gastrointestinal distress. If you're not grappling with these annoyances, you're one of the lucky few.

From here on out, you'll start seeing your practitioner every week. Sometime between now and 37 weeks, she'll do a vaginal and rectal culture to check for bacteria called Group B streptococci (GBS). (Don't worry — the swab is the size of a regular cotton swab, and it won't hurt at all.) GBS is usually harmless in adults, but if you have it and pass it on to your baby during birth, it can cause serious complications, such as pneumonia, meningitis, or a blood infection. Because 10 to 30 percent of pregnant women have the bacteria and don't know it, it's vital to be screened. (The bacteria come and go on their own — that's why you weren't screened earlier in pregnancy.) If you're a GBS carrier, you'll get IV antibiotics during labor, which will greatly reduce your baby's risk of infection.

This is also a good time to create a birth plan. Using our form will help you focus on specifics — like who'll be present, what pain management techniques you want to try, and where you want your baby to stay after you deliver. It will give you a starting point to discuss your preferences with your medical team. Childbirth is unpredictable, and chances are you won't follow your plan to the letter, but thinking about your choices ahead of time — and sharing your preferences with your caregiver — should take some of the anxiety out of the process.

Fostrets utveckling - gravid vecka 35

Nice tee huh? Beau's old washed out AC/DC tee's the only pj I fit in to these days...

Beware of the ash cloud, stay indoors!

Northern Europe is covered by a cloud of volcano ashes, real scary. Now the WHO is advicing people to stay inside to avoid the dangerous particles in the air. So far the Swedish government hasnt issued any advisories yet, but I think it's only a matter of time.
So the rest of this weekend will be spent inside watching movies and eating pizza. Not too bad after all =)

Lazy Susan...

Didn't get much done at all today. Woke up, ate breakfast, did some paper work sitting on the couch, got ready to take a walk and while getting ready I started having this feeling of someone pushing a thousand needles up my wee wee... I rested for ab. 5 minutes, it all felt good, got up from my chair and the feeling came back. I had to Google my symptoms cause I could barely walk more than 5 meters without cramping. But it seems like everything was in order, it's just my uterus growing. Growing pains of doom is what I call it....
I rested for ab. 10 more minutes then I decided I was well enough to take a walk, even though I would have to walk real slow. Put my jacket on, cut off my blood circulation while trying to put on my walking shoes (gosh Im getting fat...) and headed out for a walk. Got to the mail box (ab. 30 meters from our house...), had to stop cause it started hurting so bad I couldn't walk, had to go back home....
Wtf, if this is how it's gonna be for the rest of my pregnancy Im gonna get so frikkin fat it's not even funny. When I got up to our livingroom I couldn't even sit down so I had to lay my ass down on the couch.I stayed there for almost 5h feeling sorry for meeself and the only thing I could think about eating was cake (luckily we didn't have any, so right now I'm heading for some fruit salad and lemon water instead).... Geezes.
Jesper suggested I should work out with some handlebars sitting down so that I could get rid of all my energy. I just can't see myself being this still for the next 5 weeks. GAAAAAAHHHHH!

Fortune teller!

Been dreaming the whole night that I have a cold and that we're late for our our parenting group meeting. Woke up having a cold but were not late for the meeting, yet....

New belly pic, week 35!

Week: 34 full weeks, going on week 35 (34+2)
Weight gained so far: ab. 34 lbs (15,5 kg)
Days 'til due date: 40

Six weeks to go...

... six full, looooooooong weeks. Im hoping it'll narrow down to three. Getting real tired of not being able to walk and move around as I want to, without getting the feeling of my pelvic bone shattering in to a million pieces. So hear me now little tummy troll: three weeks, that's all I give you. After that you gotta come out, or I'll.... uuuuuhhhh.... wtf, there's nothing I can do. Ordered some raspberry tea the other day. Hopefully that'll shorten it all....

What a night!

Omg, we had "graduation" night at Dinali Center tonight. Five groups with awesome students danced and entertained for the whole night. They all were soooooooooooo awesome it can't be described with words. Im so so so proud of my girls, students and teachers.
Managed to squeeze my tummy in to a maternity dress, though it is getting kinda tight, and my feet got placed in heels (about an inch tall). Gosh my back and feet are hurting, but it was all worth it.
Jenny-Jen came to visit this weekend to keep me company and help me w the appetizers, mucho appreciated =).
Now the pregnant lady needses to lay her butt down to sleep, havent taken a single nap today, geez...

34 full weeks, going on week 35!

How your baby's growing: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

How your life's changing:

By this week, fatigue has probably set in again, though maybe not with the same coma-like intensity of your first trimester. Your tiredness is perfectly understandable, given the physical strain you're under and the restless nights of frequent pee breaks and tossing and turning, while trying to get comfortable. Now's the time to slow down and save up your energy for labor day (and beyond). If you've been sitting or lying down for a long time, don't jump up too quickly. Blood can pool in your feet and legs, causing a temporary drop in your blood pressure when you get up that can make you feel dizzy.
If you notice itchy red bumps or welts on your belly and possibly your thighs and buttocks as well, you may have a condition called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP for short). Up to one percent of pregnant women develop PUPPP, which is harmless but can be quite uncomfortable. See your practitioner so she can make sure it's not a more serious problem, provide treatment to make you more comfortable, and refer you to a dermatologist if necessary. Also be sure to call her if you feel intense itchiness all over your body, even if you don't have a rash. It could signal a liver problem.

Slide your way to slumber "In the third trimester, turning over in bed is a nightmare. The solution? Big satin pajamas and even satin sheets — the slipperiness of satin helps tremendously!"

Fostrets utveckling - gravid vecka 34

Halleluljah she can walk again!

Lately Ive been having a real har time taking walks, my body's kinda resisting the movements itself. But today I just couldn't resist going outside, the sun was shining and it was soooooo nice outside w the birds chirpin n all. I actually managed to take a 20 minutes walk. A slow one but still, it was a walk. I felt like a happy cow being let outside the barn for the first time. The whole experience made me so excited and upbeat that I put 1h maternity yoga on todays schedule as well, woohooo!

Heavy load...

Ate rosehip soup sitting on the floor this morning (don't ask). Squatted in preparation of getting up and discovered that Im right now about as heavy as my legs are able to lift, had a real hard time getting up. And no, it wasn't my ass being heavy....

Ants in my pants...

Ok, Im on my forth day of rest and I can already feel the ants in my pants crawling up my legs.... Going for a walk is out of the question. Reason one: It's a frikkin blizzars outside, reason two: Whenever I walk farther than 50m it feels like the baby's about to come out (which she's not, not panic). Had maternity yoga on my schedule for today, but Ive gotten my heartburn back and that makes it kinda difficult standing in a downward facing dog position (my favourite, works out the arms, upper body and legs at the same time as you get to stretch).

So what Im doing right now is planning my excercise for post labour. Im thinking Capoeira, something Ive been wanting to do for a reeeeeal long time. Now the only problem is finding a place nearby where they give classes.

Actually Im gonna be real happy just being able to go for walks again. I'll probably be spending a lot of time in our summer house this summer, so lawn trimming is on the schedule, like every day!

Now back to rest, this whole writing thing makes me tired....

Growing tummy...

33 full weeks, going on week 34!

How your baby's growing:

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

How your life's changing:

As your baby fills out even more of your belly, lots of things might start to change: Whereas before you were sashaying, you may find yourself waddling. Finding an easy position to sit in — let alone sleep — is becoming more of a challenge. And bumping into chairs and counters is par for the course.

You may be feeling some achiness and even numbness in your fingers, wrists, and hands. Like many other tissues in your body, those in your wrist can retain fluid, which can increase pressure in the carpal tunnel, a bony canal in your wrist. Nerves that run through this "tunnel" may end up pinched, creating numbness; tingling, shooting or burning pain; or a dull ache. Try wearing a splint to stabilize your wrist or propping your arm up with a pillow when you sleep. If your work requires repetitive hand movements (at a keyboard or on an assembly line, for instance), remember to stretch your hands when you take breaks — which should be frequently.

Many women are still feeling sexy at this stage — and their partners often agree. You may need to make some adjustments, but for most women, sex during pregnancy is fine right up until their water breaks or their labor starts.

Fostrets utveckling - gravid vecka 33

hud skallben

New belly pic, week 34!

Week: 33 full weeks, going on week 34 (33+0)
Weight gained so far: 30,8 lbs (14kg)
Days 'til due date: 49 (17,5%)

Done working!

Yesterday I taught my last regular class. Been doing this for five semesters now so it feels kinda weird to stop teaching. But now it's about time I start resting, it's only 6 weeks left 'til our due date, geezes... But both me and love thinks she'll be arriving in about 4 weeks, so I better start preparing...

Washed all the baby clothes yesterday. They are sooooooooo tiny it's crazy. It's hard to think a human being can be that tiny. The good thing about washing clothes made for a munchkin is that you only have to wash two full loads then voila, ALL the clothes are washed.

We're about ready with her room. Now we need to order a mattress (organic and non-allergenic), diapers (we're gonna use cloth diapers, much more baby friendly, environmentally friendly and awesome for your economy, saves you a bunch of cash) and a car seat. Then we're all ready for the troll to arrive =)

Now Im gonna be aaaaaaall easter for about 4 days. Good food, rest and sunshine's on the schedule!

Oh oh oh, I've had a craving for Coke for a while but I dont wanna drink it being pregnant (I dont really drink it not being pregnant either). But the other day I found this awesome (I think) organic coke-like drink that I'll be savouring tomorrow (after all, it is saturday...)
